Heat Wave Expected in Mexico City Amid International Women's Day March

A heatwave is coming to Mexico with temperatures exceeding 20 degrees in the coming days. The National Water Commission (Conagua) reported that temperatures are expected to exceed 35 degrees Celsius in 14 entities.

In Mexico City, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) predicts partly cloudy skies with possible isolated rains due to the influx of moisture from the Pacific Ocean. A warm environment is expected until Friday, March 7, with clear skies in the morning and scattered clouds with no chance of rain in the afternoon. Maximum temperatures will range between 28 and 30 degrees with winds of up to 45 km/h.

On Saturday, March 8, the day of the marches for International Women's Day in CDMX and Edomex, a hot environment is anticipated with maximum temperatures of 28 to 30 degrees and minimums of 10 to 12 degrees. It is recommended that protesters take necessary precautions to prevent heat strokes.

Additionally, it is expected that during the weekend the cold front 32 will enter, moving across northern and northeastern Mexico, which could cause extreme weather conditions. Mexico City will face high temperatures along with light isolated rains and strong gusts of wind, especially in areas like Venustiano Carranza.

The Secretariat of Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection (SGIRPC) issued recommendations for the population during the heat season, such as using sunscreen, staying hydrated, eating fruits and vegetables, wearing light-colored clothing, and avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun. This heatwave, which started on March 3, also affects states such as Jalisco, Michoacán, Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Chiapas.
